Transdisciplinary symposium and teacher development training: “The Fascination of the Nibelungs – Presence and teaching of a multimedia myth”

The Professorship of Medieval German Literature will be hosting a symposium on the presence of the Nibelung myth in schools, universities, and the general public from 23 to 25 September 2021 in collaboration with the Chair of German Literature and Language Education, placing a special focus on media diversity in the reception of the Nibelungs and the different didactic approaches that can be effective in teaching the “Song of the Nibelungs” at school. The symposium featuring lectures, workshops, poster presentations, city tours, and a public evening event will not only be an occasion to reach out to Nibelung experts, young researchers, teachers, students, and a wide audience but also an opportunity to stimulate future efforts for the preservation and cultivation of the cultural Nibelung heritage in the City of Passau and the Danube River region.
