The research our scholars produce in their respective fields is without compare. In addition to this excellent body of individual research, however, interdisciplinary research conducted as part of impactful, international research groups and consortia is an equally essential part of the culture of research at the University of Passau. The Digital Research Magazine is a cross-media magazine that showcases the research carried out here and tells the stories of the people behind it.

Focal points

Civil society, businesses and the government need answers from the scientific community to overcome challenges and to achieve sustainable development. This requires thorough analysis from a variety of disciplines. For its research, the University of Passau relies on interdisciplinary, cross-faculty cooperation and places its focus on three areas:

Focal point: Europe

Political boundaries: Owing to its history and location as a tri-country borderland university, critical engagement with social, ecological, economic, cultural and political dynamics in Europe comes naturally to our University.

Focal point: Digitalisation

Digital boundaries and opportunities: Scholars at our University are researching the technologies that drive the digital transformation as well as the impacts of digitalisation on society as a whole.
