This independent committee, comprising six members, was set up as an external quality assurance body to conduct the scientifically objective monitoring of development in teacher training studies. It reports to the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research.

University President Ulrich Bartosch said: “The appointment of my colleague Ms Hansen emphasises her extensive recognition as an education expert.  I congratulate her, and I welcome the presence of this specialised channel of communication between Passau and Vienna. ”(Professor Ulrich Bartosch is the Chairman of the Council).

This appointment is an honour for me. It comes with responsibility. An honour, because an appointment as a member of this select Council is a prized distinction. And a responsibility, because the Council is called upon to handle truly crucial issues concerning teacher training throughout Austria

Christina Hansen’s response to the appointment was as follows: “This appointment is an honour for me.  It comes with responsibility. An honour, because an appointment as a member of this select Council is a prized distinction. And a responsibility, because the Council is called upon to handle truly crucial issues concerning teacher training throughout Austria. How can digital education be nurtured in Austrian schools? How do we meet the challenges of a form of education where the imperatives of teacher training include sustained development? Furthermore, what are the boundary conditions that we have to include in our planning for the expansion of inclusive schools? In social terms, these are extremely important topics.  I’m honoured to be entrusted with the opportunity to collaborate with the Council on the planning of education in Austria. Finally, I’m glad of the opportunity to express my appreciation of this honour.”
