"I study changes brought about by digital technologies. One example is how artificial intelligence changes how organizations learn and how they must adapt to such change. I’m also interested in how digital technologies alter human behaviour – for instance, how do we as humans cope with the growing amount of information in digital channels and how does that affect individuals and groups? I very much enjoy working with both young and internationally renowned colleagues to explore these and other intriguing issues of our digital world."

More about his research

In his research, Professor Gerlach studies the technology-induced changes in our economy, in the day-to-day life of individuals, and in society. Together with colleagues from around the world, he studies issues such as the impact of machine learning on organisations, privacy management in companies, as well as the consequences of the growing amount of information for modern technology users.
