BMBF project MORFEUS: Prevention of attacks on embedded systems

Fast-growing application areas of digital systems such as the Internet of Things, autonomous driving and Industry 4.0 are leading to ever greater penetration of all areas of life with IT systems, especially with embedded networked systems, which means that we will increasingly depend on these systems to function correctly and they will therefore have to operate extremely reliably. The dependence on the availability and reliability of these systems can hardly be overestimated. The common goal of all partners in this project is to increase the resilience of embedded systems, i.e. their ability to withstand:

  • intentional errors (especially caused by ROP attacks) and
  • random failures (caused by hardware failures due to manufacturing weaknesses and aging phenomena).
